Serious Sam 4 Detail Review

Many of the gamers are familiar with the name Serious Sam.  A large part of them may not have heard this name.  Today's review is of the fifth game of this series, Serious Sam 4.

About Serious Sam Series:
We mention the gamers who are familiar with the Serious Sam series, the gamers of the generation who are familiar with the Call of Duty series, Max Payne Series, GTA Vice City, San Andreas or IGI series.  Many have already figured out exactly what time this series is.  Yes, most of the games in the Serious Sam series were released in the early 2000s.
Below are screenshots of some of the previous games in the Serious Sam series:

Impressions are gained in a fluid, global, diffused way.  Those who once played, found on cousin's PC or in the store.  Love and intoxication at first sight.  All the strange creatures are coming forward with a loud noise and shooting at once with a huge weapon in their hands;  That was the trademark.  Those who have forgotten Serious Sam may also come to mind when they hear the name of the famous strange scene of some animal jumping towards Sam with a bomb in both hands.

There are four games in the series.  Which were available on PC at different times from 2001 to 2011.

Serious Sam 4: Comeback in a new Era
So after 9 years, it can be said that in the modern era, in the era of Ray Tracing, Ryzen, the series re-emerged, a kind of comeback.  Hardware Section and Graphics Technology have moved forward at equal pace in the intervening period.  The review will include gameplay (Character, weapons, enemies, shooting style, movement, comparison with past releases), story, graphics and optimization and last but not least a brief discussion of what I like and dislike.
Story and Characters:

The story has never been something important or a topic of discussion in the Serious Sam series.  The story of this series has never been anything fascinating to gamers.  In one of the fictional eras in the world, SAM is protecting the devastated world from the hands of the enemies, from all the fictional beasts with all the strange weapons. This was the story in bold.  There is no exception here.  However, it is good to know that there are several twists at the end which have given a different dimension to the story. Besides Sam, there are several characters including Hellfire, Kenny, Father Mikhail.

Missions, Saves, Chapters:

The game has a total of 15 missions.  Quick save can be done, with regular autosave.  With the exception of one or two, most missions are neither too long nor too short.  The gamer has to go ahead with Objective Chase. There are Side Objectives or Secondary Objectives in different places in each mission.

Gameplay- Movement, weapon system, environment, combat:
Combat System:
The gameplay includes a detailed discussion of the Combat System.  Because Combat System sets Serious Sam 4 apart from the other ten games.

The game is fast paced enough.  Seeing the enemies here, it may seem that the game is of horror type where there are no zombies or ghosts.  What happens in that case is that the gameplay and combat is very boring and slow paced but you will really enjoy the Fast Paced gameplay of serious sam.

‘Enemies come towards the gamer’ This is the core of the combat system of this game.  Enemies rush towards SAM with great speed, and it requires very responsive, quick movement and response to tackle it.  If you want to survive, you have to move fast and shoot fast at the same time.  One more thing here is exclusive, that is the bunch of enemies at the same time.  In other words, not one or two, in the same combat in a situation in front of you will have many different types of enemies, each of which is different in size, abilities, weakness, movement speed.  You have to look at each enemy separately.

Weapon system, life, ammo:

Enemies is another attraction of this game which we have mentioned lightly above and detailed in the following paragraph, as well as the complimentary factor is the weapons of this game.  Funny funny, you can wield all kinds of destructive weapons.

Life in the game is old school limited life system.  In other words, if you go to the cover or not hit, life will not regenerate, but there is a life bar that will actually reduce the hit and survive by picking from the life environment.

There are different types of weapons of different genres and abilities.  By default Sam will always have a pistol (with ammo infinite) and a knife.

There will be minigun along with common weapons like snipers, assault rifle, shotgun.  But the main fun is that there are a number of fictional conceptual weapons that are trademarks of the Sirius Sam game.  By continuing them, different types of rockets, electric beams can be fired.

And dual wield weapons will give another dimension to this whole experience.  You can use any two weapons at the same time, it will double the rate of fire, damage at the same time which will play a role in combat at different times to save you.  Even two different weapons and dual wields can be used.  And yes, several weapons can be upgraded.

Ammo and life or armor must be picked up from all environments.  may be dropped from enemies, as well as the environment will be in different places ammo, life, armor.  Life and ammo have to be replenished with these.

Infinite number of enemies:
Another thing to note in the game is that the enemies will come in such a large number in any situation that the gamer can really get annoyed at one time.  One anime after another is coming and you are shooting but the anime is still coming.  After 20-25 / 30 different animes come in one batch, another batch starts and then many animes keep coming.

different enemies with different abilities, structure:
I have already said that there are all kinds of strange enemies.  These are all serious sam's trademarks. Some of them are giant in size but slow paced, some are human shaped guns or rockets that move very fast, there are several enemies like robots that shoot powerful rockets.

Enemies are characterized by shoot and move.  That means they will use bullets, rockets, toxic liquids, fireballs or any other ability that they have and will continue to move towards SAM at the same time.  That means you have the opportunity to be confined, stuck or trapped in the map.  If you can't make a very tricky and quick decision, enemies can surround SAM.

There are a number of strange creatures with which you will find similarities with some of the creatures on our planet that will rush very fast and just want to crush the gamer.  To avoid these, the gamer has to be very responsive and fast paced.

There are several enemies like ghosts and skeletons.

Several enemies can be called mini boss.  However, there are several missions in Boss that are very large in size and possess all the strange abilities.  Those bosses come later as mini boss more than once.

Needless to say, it will give you a wonderful experience as hundreds of different types of anime are coming towards you on the screen at the same time.

There is no need to re-explain the above words to those who are old fans of serious sam, who have already played and know about the game.

Movement, abilities:
The movement system seemed very normal and convenient to me.  There are options like sprint, melee, crouch, jump.

Speaking of abilities, SAM has no special ability.  The shooting tie is the main and only weapon.  His main skill is to shoot and defeat enemies.  When it comes to skills, let me say here, there are skill points.  Some basic things and some combat related things can be upgraded or unlocked through skill point.
Added gadgets, that is, a number of special physical objects can be found in the weapon wheel that can be done one by one (with a certain ammo limit) such as adding life, slow motion, black hole for enemas, mini nuke, etc.  .  Although they do not have special power and skill, these gadgets add a new dimension to the gameplay, the gamer's experience and make the Combat System more improved and enriched.

Camera:
Another feature of Serious Sam 4 that gamers may like is its camera, view.  You can also play in 3rd person view if you want.  Or you can turn on the 1st person view.

Graphics, environment:
The environment of the game and a distinction from other games.  There will be huge large areas or areas that are open all around, and in this case the enemies will come, how to come in what amount has been said above.  There are various installations, buildings, river channels.  You will not find the same environment system, day and night, large space or small installation, there will be variation in all.  Huge big area, huge big map can give you the feel of any battle royale game.

The graphics of the game are good enough.  There are enough details in the environment.  The colors are very punchy and saturated.  Especially in vegetation, you will notice a lot of greenery, the green color is very punchy.  In terms of effects, this is also a trademark, blood flood, blood, gore violence, the developers have highlighted quite well.

What I did not like:
First of all, optimization, I think the game is not optimized.  In my Ryzen 5 1600, 8GB 3200Mhz and RX 570 8GB config game no settings were able to give this stable 60fps or 60fps plus frame rate.  Most of the time it fluctuates between 45-55 framerate.  Occasionally touched 60 (normally I locked in 60).  In several missions the average frame rate dropped to between 30-40.  Bigger than that was stability, the framerate was much more unstable, dropping.  When you go to each new place, you can notice the surrounding texture, 10-15 seconds of awful lag while the map is loading, frame drop stator.  The same thing happens in many combat situations. The option of graphics settings was also quite strange.  Instead of changing each of the settings here, the options were CPU, GPU, Memory.  And the game is pretty good Resource hungry.  More than 8 GB of video memory has been used most of the time.
weapons collection: There are many types, many different types of weapons which is a very good thing I said before.  But the problem is that the ei weapons are very randomly distributed.  There are scattered in the environment.  Automatically no weapon will be found or unlocked or will not come to the weapon wheel.  Rather you have to collect by looking around while moving in the mission which is not a good thing at all.  I think the weapons have been hidden a bit in this game.  Many weapon e you can miss because of this system which is annoying.
Skill points: I have already said that there are skill points.  There is a problem here too, it is not a matter of upgrading if you fill up a specific point range or XP.  Instead, skill points and randomly hidden in different places in different boxes that need to be found.  Which is enough to ruin the experience.
