Google Chrome [PC] 90: 5 Best Features at a Glance
Google has been rolling out their latest Chrome to users around the world for the past few days. The latest version is 90. Each update adds some useful features to enhance performance as well. This time too he is no exception. Version 90 has reduced RAM usage as well as a number of essential features. In today's article, we will cover a few of them.
Before moving on to the features, let's take a look at how you can update to the latest version of Chrome. If Corner's Threaddot menu shows an update toast, click Update and then click Update. If you don't see anything in the Threaded menu, go to the Threaded Menu> Help> About Google Chrome and automatically check for the latest version and update accordingly to the latest version. You need to "Relaunch" to get the effect of the update.
1. Copy Link To Text
If we had to highlight and send a specific part of a website, we would have to highlight it in a screenshot or copy it separately. But with this “Copy Link To Text” feature, from now on, select the part that needs to be highlighted and send it, click the right button and click on “Copy Link To Text”, the clipboard link will come. Then if you or someone else opens this link, we will take you directly to the highlighted part in yellow.
Now if you do not have this feature by default, then chrome: // flags / Copy Link To Text search, "Default" to "Enabled" browser "Relaunch", I hope you can enjoy the feature.
2. Clipboard filenames
This is a more interesting feature. Until now, if we wanted to mail a document or a file, we had to use either a drag and drop or a direct upload approach. We can copy and paste text if we want, it didn't work for documents or files for so long. But from now on you can copy and paste like text in the mail if you want through this feature "Clipboard filenames".
Again, if this feature does not work by default, then you can search for Clipboard filenames from chrome: // flags /, "Default" to "Enabled" and "Relaunch" the browser to enjoy the feature.
3. AV1 Video Decoder
The need for video conferencing has increased manifold worldwide since the Kavid-19 Pandemic. Every class of people has to do video conferencing in web browsers every day. With this in mind, Chrome has replaced the previous VP9 codec with AV1 in their latest update. There are several benefits to using this new decoder. DV conferencing can be done using tools like Google Meet, Duo and Cisco Webex, etc., using much less bandwidth than before. On the other hand, the visual quality will be better than before. With low bandwidth, users can share videos. In addition, screensharing efficiency will increase.
4. Search Tab
This is a very handy feature. Especially those who need to keep many tabs open for research or any other need. If you keep many tabs open, you will have to be puzzled to find specific tabs when you need them, especially if you have several tabs of the same website open. In the latest update, version 90, a new option called Search tab has been added. It can be found. As a dropdown menu next to the "-" button to minimize the window. It can also be easily accessed through the Ctrl + Shift + A shortcuts. The Search Tab option allows you to find a specific tab using some of the phrases in its title. Not with the content inside the tab. In addition, any tab can be closed from here, but the tab can not be rearranged.
5. HTTPS Everywhere
From now on, Chrome by default will take you to those websites with secured HTTPS, even if you don't mention HTTPS when typing any website in Chrome browser. Although now the maximum website uses HTTPS certification. But many websites do not have HTTPS request, HTTP would load the website. This feature is nothing new. Infact the question should be why it hasn’t come to the main feature for so long. But even after so long, it is a matter of relief. Many people still use the extension called HTTPS Everywhere. Adding this feature will save many people from using an additional extension.
Bonus features
Some features will be mentioned in this section. These are not very mentionable but since these updates have been attached and can be useful to many, a few are briefly highlighted.
Window naming
This feature is for those who work with two or three Chrome windows open. Because many people get confused when moving from one window to another. But using the window naming feature, you can now browse in a more organized way. To use the feature, from the Threaded menu> more tools> name a window then you can use any name you want in any window.
Always show full URLs-
Many people do not want to see a website with a huge subdomain, they can hide https, www and the rest of the subdomains. All you have to do is click on the right button on any website and just one click on the option "Always show full URLs" at the bottom. But one thing to keep in mind here, the feature is universal. Due to which, if you turn it on, it will be applicable for all the websites in the whole browser, separately, it will not be launched for any specific website.
